So I am almost through the first 3 books of Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy Series. Now there is something you need to know about my reading – I don’t really “read” per se… I listen to the audio book, downloaded to my iPod. So when you hear me talk about these books you will often hear me talk about their voices, or other things that wouldn’t be relevant to book “readers”.
So anyway, I am on the last book, and I have actually flown right through all of them in a week and a half. So I guess this means that they are pretty good. There are things that make me want to roll my eyes due to the juvenile nature of the books, but overall it didn’t bother me enough to stop reading (obviously).
The plot and how they all run together is put together pretty well, there are some pretty exciting moments in the series and it kept me interested. I’m pretty sad that I can’t find the 4th book on audio tape, so I’m going to have to wait until it comes out. *UPDATE: Blood Promise NOW AVAILABLE in Audio Format!
The characters are pretty well described, and I can get a really good idea of the “type” of person each one was. I will tell you right now though, at this point in the series, I am sooo over Dimitri. I wish she would get rid of him. I get that he is the one that brings a naughty type romance to the book, but I think I could do without all of the I love Dimitri stuff. I would love to see Rose with Adrian Ivoshkov. Which by the way has his own facebook page (here) – I just learned! 
However I do love that Lissa is with Christian.
Their are some very creative ways the author has used magic and the paranormal. The bond is a great way to get into two characters heads in one pop. I love it. The use of “spirit” is also very creative and intriging to think about.
All in all these books are pretty good, and I would recommend them to anyone who would like a good read. I have written some more detailed reviews on my blog, so check them out! It contains some spoilers so read with caution!

This series is on of the best vamp books I’ve read so far, but I kinda hope they don’t make a movie out of it because it’s never what I expect it to be. Just look at what happened with Twilight. Anyway the books are great I so sad that the fifth book is going to be the last one, good thing Mead is writing spin offs books of other charters like Adrian, Lissa, and Christian.

my friends and i started reading the series from the start of 2009 and we are in love with the characters
i finished the 5 book (spirit bound)
it is soooo awesome love adrian and i still like dimitri
rose is the most sassiest girl in the world…actually in both worlds
and we would be completely out of the world if this turns into a movie
and btw the series is sooo much better than twilight(sorry twilight fans) but it is true
and if it is going to be the perfect movie with the right amount of romance, violence and fantasy
richelle mead should soo make a flip off series
I finished the entire series available. Although I know the entire Dimitri being a Strigoi was sorta sad & it brought out a lot of emotions of not wanting Rose to be with him, but Dimitri & Rose have a deep connection. The connection between the two is much deeper than what she has with Adrian. Dimitri is her “Soulmate” in my opinion. Just wanted to share my thoughts. I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!!! It has helped my teen daughter & I pick out books. THANKS SO MUCH!!
I’ve read all five of them, and now I’m starting to listen to audio book, it’s really fun!

I just finished this awsome book called ( Moonlight , The hidden blood prophecy.) couldnt put it down for two days. knocks underworld and twilight out. IF YOU WANT A NEW TWIST VAMP WEREWOLF BOOK, try this one.

I’ve ‘discovered’ a great-unknown vampire book! Blood Hunger by A. M. Esmonde. one word wow, if you like ‘Vampire Diaries’, ‘True Blood’ and ‘Twilight’ Only it more centred around the female characters, there’s less romance but more tensions.
I love vampire academy!!! Best series ever!!!! I love that Adrian and Rose are going out but Rose in her heart of hearts still loves Dimitri and will always love him. That’s what I love about this series!!! It’s never ending drama!!!!

You should really check out Mari Mancusi’s Blood Coven Vampire series. The first installment “Boys that Bite,” is a super-fast read that is sure to entertain fans of Buffy and the Vampire Diaries! The author does an amazing job balancing humor with suspense and creating really unique characters. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next installment!
