So if you loved Vampire Academy, you are probably one of the hundreds of thousands of people anxiously awaiting for the Bloodlines series to come out. The time is almost here. August 23rd is the release date according to Richelle Mead’s website.

And if you haven’t heard of the Vampire Academy series, then let me fill you in. The Vampire Academy series is an action filled series about two young girls who have to deal with tons of turmoil, drama, and quite a bit of craziness. Rose is a kick ass vampire who is set on protecting Lissa, her best friend and also a royal vampire. To help a little with the back story, you should know that this book contains two different kinds of vampires, Moroi and Stigoi, and in addition, Moroi are seperated into two categories as well, Royals, and dhampires. Dhampires are the protectors of the royal moroi, and the royals are an elite group of vampires that govern all moroi and make and enforce laws – not much different than any other Royals.

Anyway, the story is set around Rose and Lissa, and the books are amazing. I am not going to go into too much detail, because I have already written full reviews on these books (see below).

REVIEW: Vampire Academy Series – Book 1: Vampire Academy

REVIEW: Vampire Academy Series – Book 5: Spirit Bound

So, on to Bloodlines… Bloodlines is a spin off to Richelle’s amazing series, and it is told through the point of view of Sydney, who appeared in the last books of the Vampire Academy series. This is especially exciting to me, since Sydney was a really good character and I would have loved to hear more from her, and now I can!

This series also contains many other characters from the VA series, such as Jill, Adrian, and Eddie. Adrian is probably my second favorite character, and one that I am excited to see in this new series.

On Richelle’s website, the description of the book reads

BLOOD DOESN’T LIE. Sydney is an alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of human and vampires. They protect vampire secrets – and human lives. When Sydney is torn from her bed in the middle of the night, at first she thinks she’s still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. But what unfolds is far worse. Jill Dragomir – the sister of Moroi Queen Lissa Dragomir – is in mortal danger, and the Moroi must send her into hiding. To avoid a civil war, Sydney is called upon to act as Jill’s guardian and protector, posing as her roommate in the last place anyone would think to look for vampire royalty – a human boarding school in Palm Springs, California. But instead of finding safety at Amberwood Prep, Sydney discovers the drama is only just beginning…

Now that sounds like a good book! If you want more information check the below links for some juicy material!

Deaths Sweet Embrace released January of this year and has already been given high reviews on many book sites, including Amazon where readers are praising it as “an exciting dark thriller” and a “worthwhile read and enriching addition to the Dark Brethren series”. This book is the second of the Dark Brethren Series, the first being Night’s Cold Kiss.

The book is about an unspeakable evil that threatens the state of the world and looks to disrupt peace.

“After thousands of years of secret conflict, humans and parahumans have reached anuneasy truce. But unspeakable evil now threatens to shatter the tenuous peace. Teenaged shapeshifters are being slaughtered by a twisted, sadistic serial killer who rips their still-beating hearts from their paralyzed bodies. A task force must be formed to halt the madness—a union of avengers including the vampiric Aeternus, Christian Laroque and Antoinette Petrescu, as well as Kitt Jordan and Raven Matokwe, members of enemy Animalian tribes…and forbidden lovers.”

Even if you have not read the first book of this series you can still jump right into this one. It is full of adventure and suspense and is sure to keep you excited throughout the entire book.

Whitechapel Road is a unique vampire story that takes place in England and is a fictional story that is tied in tightly with historical events pertaining to the murders committed by Jack the Ripper.

The action starts almost immediately when a beautiful young woman posing as the fiancé of the main character, Aremis Eilbeck, lures him away from the local harvest festival. Attacked by this same woman and subsequently left for dead he is discovered, barely alive, the following morning.

His sister, Temperance, takes to his care until he begins to show signs of improvement. Temperance, gifted with something she refers to as her other sight, begins to realise that her brother is not as he was before the attack.

Forced to leave his tiny village in the south of England, Aremis makes his way to London in the hopes of finding a cure for what has happened to him.

Discovering by accident that human blood sustains him longer than that of animal, he also makes the harsh realization that if he is selective regarding whom he kills, the police hardly take any notice when a body turns up in the morning.

With this knowledge he quietly begins to make a new life for himself in London’s seedy Whitechapel district, hardly noticed by those around him.

A chance meeting with the same woman who had attacked him over ten years before puts into motion a string of events that would come to be known throughout the world as the murders committed by Jack the Ripper.

The deaths of five or more innocent prostitutes brought about, not by a mad man, but by a female vampire. Her only reason for killing them, they are the bait in a child-like game of hide-and-go-seek she is playing out with her prodigy.

Unable to prevent progression of the murders, he is taunted by letters and unspeakable human remains delivered to his door, until he experiences a vision similar to that of his sister.

In the end it is through these visions he finds his adversary, in the throes of mutilating Mary-Jane Kelly, the last official victim of Jack the Ripper, the discovery effectively putting an end to the game.

It doesn’t take long before he realizes that even though he had planned her demise many times over, feelings of a romantic nature have begun to surface. These feelings never come to be realized as she leaves him just before Christmas that same year.

What sets this story apart from other vampire stories is that I have dispensed with all the traditional vampire lore and have replaced it with a more believable creature set in a historically accurate setting.

Fast action, explosive character interactions, historically accurate, and the timeless draw of the vampire are what lie within the pages of Whitechapel Road.

T. Lyn Fletcher joins the cast and fans of “The Vampire Diaries” at Atlanta Convention

March 31, 2011 (Raleigh, NC) – EyeCon Celebrity Autograph Conventions, best known for conventions geared towards the shows “True Blood” and “Supernatural” and the “Twilight” movies, added a new show and location this year: EyeCon Vampire Diaries Convention in Atlanta March 25-27, spotlighting the stars of the CW Network’s TV series.

T. Lyn Fletcher, North Carolina native and author of the upcoming supernatural book series Twisted and Turned, was invited to participate in the convention to promote the series, which she insists will take fans of supernatural and occult literature on a journey “unlike any they’ve experienced before – including ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ ‘True Blood,’ and ‘Twilight.’”

If comments she received during EyeCon are indicators, she’s right.

Twisted and Turned is “a true love story of supernatural proportions,” Fletcher says. It begins with an archangel in heaven who falls so deeply in love with a human soul that she arranges to be born on earth in the same place where this soul will be born. The soul actually becomes twins – stunningly handsome twin vampires. Yet the archangel is destined to find and fall in love with one of the twins – even though her natural instinct is to destroy demons. She even bears children from this unlikely union.

“The archangel/vampire connection fascinated everyone,” Fletcher said. “Many people told me it was a fresh twist for the genre. Several people even asked me if this was going to be a TV series. They seemed really excited!”

Fletcher’s display booth for Twisted and Turned featured promotional posters designed by Cary artist Darla Yanko. Yanko is also creating cover art for each book in the series.

“It was an incredible experience,” Fletcher said. “I met so many wonderful people, from the staff and volunteers to the stars from ‘The Vampire Diaries.’ The exposure for Twisted and Turned was invaluable, and it was great to meet people who are so deeply interested in the genre. I was thrilled to hear so many people say that they can’t wait for the books to come out.”

The EyeCon weekend included panel discussions, celebrity Q&A events, and photo op and autograph sessions with the cast of “The Vampire Diaries,” along with a Cocktail Carnival and Banquet with the stars, and a Masquerade Ball on Saturday Evening.

T. Lyn Fletcher, a member of the well-known, philanthropic Fletcher family of Raleigh, NC and a medical software designer in her “other life,” as she puts it, expects to have the entire Twisted and Turned series completed this year. Requests for review copies are already coming in.

The T. Lyn Fletcher website, www.tlynfletcher.com, will launch soon. In the meantime, she maintains a Facebook page (under T. Lyn Fletcher) and Twitter account to support the upcoming series and to connect with her future readers.

I just finished up the book Blood Destiny, by Tessa Dawn, and I can’t wait for the next one to come out! The book was great, probably one of the best vampire books I have read in a while. Here is the synopsis from Mrs. Dawn’s website (Tessa Dawn Website).

This action packed novel is sure to impress you, and keep you waiting for the next book!

Descended from the progeny of Celestial Gods and humans, Nathaniel Silivasi is handsome, seductive, and powerful beyond measure: a lethal vampire. Belonging to an ancient civilization that sacrificed its females to the verge of extinction, he is also cursed. Like all the sons of Jadon, he is incapable of producing female offspring and required to sacrifice a first born son as atonement for the sins of his forefathers. He belongs to a modern civilization, yet he is bound by primeval law.

When Jocelyn Levi stumbles upon Nathaniel’s pristine mountain valley, she is not prepared for the collision of worlds that is about to confront her. As an agent of the homeland security department, ICE, the beautiful, defiant female has an agenda of her own: to stop the ritualistic slaughter of innocent young women by a human trafficking ring. Little does she know that the evil she seeks is unlike any other she has ever encountered. She has entered a world of warriors, code, and mystery where the predators are divided only by degrees of light and shadow, and the dark, handsome stranger who has come to her aid is the most dangerous of all.

Tessa creates an amazing adventure with this book, it is packed full of action, romance, and keeps you wanting to continue this adventure! The fight scenes in this book are tremendous, a little graphic and gory at times, but exactly what you would expect to find in any good vampire novel. The romance was a little heavy at times, making it not the best book for youngsters, but I do think all Young Adults will fall in love with this book, and fall in love with the Silivasi Brothers.

The back story of this book is what really sets it apart from other novels. Using an ancient curse, Mrs. Dawn creates her own set of vampires that play by their own rules. Of course a lot of the stereotypical vampire lore is mixed in nicely, the book has plenty of originality that vampire book readers love to see.

The Silivasi brothers are sexy, and Jocelyn Levi, the unsuspecting human, is a joy — actually all of the characters in the book have something special about them, and they are sure to come alive for you.

The last thing that I want to point out with this book – the epilogue! The intro into the next book is fantastic, bringing to life a new character that is sure to put an awesome spin on the next chapter to the Blood Destiny series. I am anxiously awaiting the second book in this series, I can’t wait to see what Mrs. Dawn is going to do next!

I was a little skeptical when starting this series, as I usually am when starting a new series. I started reading the book because I had heard about the show True Blood, and was on a Vampire kick, and wanted to read a series. This seemed the most popular choice, even though in the back of my head I was arguing “What kind of name is Sookie, and WTF is this crap going to be about, I decided to listen to the book. So I bought the audio book, and started to listen to it on my ride home. OMG, I got the biggest headache from the horribly fake accent(s) used in the reading of the book. Sookie was incredibly painful to listen to, so I shut it off.

Ok… that wasn’t the end. I ended up watching a few of the episodes of True Blood, and wanted to start listening to it again, so I put in my earphones in at work one day, and listened. After a while I got used to the accents, Sookie’s voice, as well as Bill’s voice. But it did take some getting used to.

The book starts off with Sookie saving a Vampire from some “Drainers”. (Drainers = people who drain a Vampire of its blood, because Vampire Blood is a drug to humans) I wrongly assumed that Sookie was going to end up being some sort of overly strong human hybrid of some type, and that kind of got me excited cause I like the “warrior” type. But, Sookie’s powers are different, she is able to hear what others are thinking, and has to put up barriers to stop from hearing/seeing these thoughts. With this said, she can not hear Bill the Vampire’s thoughts, and Sookie find comfort in that feeling. Bill is the first Vampire Sookie has ever met, and is amazed at the fact that she doesn’t have to put up barriers while around Bill.

Anyway, the book is also set around a mystery. Young women are getting murdered in Sookie’s town. The main thing in common with all these women are that they are all known to have been with a Vampire, of Fang Bangers, as they would say in the book. They are lower class women, and they are being strangled and murdered. Sookie wants to get to the bottom of these murders because, for one, her brother has been arrested multiple times for these murders and she wants to clear his name, and for two, by having a boyfriend who is a Vampire, Sookie could be the next target.

So Sookie and Bill run around having relations, and trying to solve these murders for most of the book, and it stays pretty entertaining. I do think the book has a few too many “intimate” scenes, but thats just me I’m sure. Also the book does introduce some other pretty good characters. I love Sam – the owner of the bar Sookie works at, he loves Sookie and Sookie doesn’t really want to get involved with him. But he is kind of awkward, and i’m sure his character will develop a lot more as the books continue.

So final words, I like the book, I will read the second one, and it keeps me interested enough to continue with this series. And also, as a side note, I really do like watching the True Blood Series at the same time. They are a little different, of course, but I like to see someone else’s view of the books.

I recently got my hands on a copy of Werner Lind’s vampire novel Lifeblood. This was an ebook, which is completely different than any of my other reviews, which are all based off the audio books. Nonetheless, I was asked if I could do a review of the book, and upon checking it out, I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and read the book, and…. I was happy that I did. It was a pretty quick read, with the book moving along at a great pace which kept me interested enough to finish the entire thing in one, four hour sitting.

Lind tells the tale of a young girl, Ana Vasilifata, who was changed against her will into a vampire in the 1600′s. It was also in the 1600′s that Ana was staked and left in a coffin with the stake stuck in her heart for over 300 years. This brings us to present day where Ana get awakened due to an accident which jolts the stake out of her heart.

As Ana awakes she escapes into the night, and while hiding out in an abandoned house, she meets a man named Joshua Davidson. Joshua becomes incredibly enthralled with Ana and does what he can to help her, thinking that she is a hitchiker from Transylvania trying to make her way across the US.

Joshua also helps Ana when a crazed man, named Itchy, goes after her and tries to kill her because he “thinks” she is a vampire. Little does Joshua and the rest of the town know that this man in right in his beliefs.

In the end, Joshua and Ana develop a relationship, and Joshua saves Ana from Itchy, almost dying in the process.

I don’t want to give away the rest of the book, but I will tell you their is a really nice twist at the end of the book. Something that isn’t all that common in classic vampire novels. It was really a great read, and I really loved how Lind flips back and forth from Joshua point of view to Ana’s point of view. I feel that if he had kept the entire book in Ana’s point of view I would have drowned in the Old English Ana spoke. But as it is, I enjoyed the balance between the Old English and modern day English, it kept the book refreshing.

The story was the classic vampire romance novel, with all the classic vampire traits thrown in with one major difference. The difference being that Ana does not suck the blood of humans, and seems to have NO bad bone in her body. Had she not been a creature of the night, Ana could be one of those wholesome good ‘ole girl that everyone knows and loves in any small town across America.

All in all I would recommend this book. It is a great read, and moves really quickly. It would be great for any young adult as well!

Where to Buy: This book seems to be out of print, but I did find a copy at Amazon for pretty cheap.
