Raleigh Author Announces Upcoming Book Series:

“A true love story of supernatural proportions”

March 22, 2011 (Raleigh, NC) – T. Lyn Fletcher, an emerging author in Raleigh, NC, has announced her upcoming book series entitled Twisted and Turned, which, she says, will take fans of supernatural and occult literature on a journey unlike any they’ve experienced before – including Twilight, The Vampire Diaries and The Southern Vampire Mysteries (the basis for the TV series “True Blood”).

Fletcher is a member of the well-known, philanthropic Fletcher family of Raleigh, and her book series revolves around two equally powerful families: the Fletchers and the Gillespie’s. The Fletcher’s spend their winters in Raleigh, North Carolina, their summers in Chatham, Massachusetts, and “reek of supernatural issues,” the author says, including witches, the Angel of Death, demon hunters, and the ability to communicate with the dead. The Gillespie’s count vampires and witches’ covens among their relatives. Demons, werewolves and sorcerers also populate the series.

Calling Twisted and Turned “a true love story of supernatural proportions,” Fletcher begins with an archangel in heaven who falls so deeply in love with a human soul that she arranges to be born on earth in the same place where this soul will be born. The soul actually becomes twins – stunningly handsome twin vampires.

Yet the archangel is destined to find and fall in love with one of the twins – even though her natural instinct is to destroy demons. She even bears children from this unlikely union. And the books unfold as a never-ending conflict between good and evil, angels and demons, and passion and control – with an emphasis on passion.

Fletcher, a medical software designer and the mother of two boys, says she never knows what she’s going to write until she sits down to do so. “And when it starts hitting my head, I have to start writing. It’s a true blessing. Fate has finally found me.”

Her editor, Jill Yris of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, says the series’ plot “defies logic. Truth mingles with heart-pounding, mystical, I-can’t-believe-it action. Romance, witchery, relationships and drama – there is nothing subtle in the Twisted and Turned trilogy.”

Fletcher also admits that much of the series is autobiographical, especially the characters. “While the names are changed to protect the innocent,” she says with a smile, “my characters are multi-faceted, contemporary, edgy, and based on many people within my own family.”

Fletcher plans to launch her website, www.tlynfletcher.com, soon. In the meantime, she maintains a Facebook page (under T. Lyn Fletcher) and Twitter account to support the upcoming series.

For more information, contact Fletcher’s publicist, Kim Weiss of Blueplate PR, at kim@blueplatenc.com or 919-272-8615.

Today I have a special post to put up. Author Cole Drewes is here today to talk about his book Hounds of Heaven, and his self publishing efforts. Hounds of Heaven is a vampire and werewolf book set in a future society where both species run freely and have all the same rights as humans have. I have watched the trailer to this book and it looks really amazing.

Mr. Drewes is in the process of self publishing, and if you are a writer, or even tried to get your works published you know that the business can be quite a hard one to break into. Mr. Drewes has now taken the matter into his own hands and below is his story!

—————————

Hey Ruby thanks for having me on! Your site is amazing!

I’ll start off with why I become an indie author. That’s the question many of my friends ask me. I’m the only person I know that’s written a novel. Sure I talk to traditional and self published authors online but in my personal life I’m the only writer! I decided to write a book really for the want of writing a novel. My son was due to be born in a few early (Jan 2009) and I had this sudden urge to do something amazing for him. I wanted him to be proud of me and within a couple of days the entire story of “Hounds of Heaven” came to me. I had to get the entire story on paper but I find speaking everything into a voice recorder and going back through it later on was an easier process. I wanted it to be about vampires and werewolves, not because that’s what’s popular but because I wanted to bring both of these creatures to a world full of violence and despair. I researched many of the myths of both creatures and incorporated what I found into my story. It’s a mixture of urban fantasy with historical myths and events all rolled into one story. It took me about a year to write “Hounds of Heaven”. I’m horrible at editing so I contracted that out but that still left plenty of working for me. I look at indie and self publishing much like I look at the indie movement in music and film. You aren’t going to get an indie movie with amazing actors and footage (in most cases) but you can get an amazing gem of a movie from a shoe string budget. This same idea can be applied towards music and now publishing. Is every self-published book going to be a Hugo Award winner? No, but neither is every traditional published book. You have a lot of people who have written novels and are now able to share their stories with the world, that’s the real beauty with self-publishing. Maybe the majority of people won’t spend a year trying to clean up and perfect their novel like me, but it doesn’t take away from their story and the possible the impact their story could have on a reader.

Sure I sent a few queries out to agents and publishers and about half way through I got fed up. It seemed like a few agents were interested but some of the responses were: “I have another project similar to this one” or “We’re just not sure it has commercial potential”. Well why spend two years sending out letters to a majority of people who could care less about me. Why not publish my own books, keep the rights to MY work, and worry about my readers! The more I researched publishing the traditional route the more I became displeased with the entire process. I just want my book to reach those who will want to read it, and I don’t want that to be a two year process!

I’ve been able to contact other blogs and take part in being a guest blogger, and Facebook has really helped too.

I’m also currently funding a project through Kickstarter.com. My goal is $500 which will be used to market Hounds of Heaven. I didn’t start the project for money I felt that having my project on Kickstarter provided a way for more people to read about my book. I’ve provided various donation packages that will allow those who donate to get some pretty cool items they won’t be able to get anywhere else. Thanks for having me on!

Readers can subscribe to my blog: (Cole Drewes)

and my kickstarter project can be seen here: (Kickstart Program)

—————————

Thanks Drew! We all wish you the best of luck in your publishing efforts, and look forward to the day we can get a hold of this book! Readers, lets help Mr. Drewes out – go to kickstart and see if we can help him hit his goal! Also, don’t forget to check out his website and the book trailer, they are both amazing!

In addition it also outlines popular vampire movies and films, such as Nosferatu, and Dreyer’s Vampyr, as well as the ever popular Tod Browning’s Dracula. You will also find small bits about Vampirism throughout the world.

It proves to be an interesting read for anyone who might be interested in the History of Vampires or reading up about how vampires changed and evolved throughout the literary and film world.

Amazon has a few reviews on this book, and the general consensus is 2 stars out of 5 stars. So not that great, but nonetheless, for those wanting to have a sort of handbook on Vampires, this might be what you are looking for. (Amazon link: The Complete Book of Vampires)

There are tons of Vampire novels out there for those interested in more books on or about Vampires. People have been writing about Vampires from the early 1700′s. Most of these earlier novels were inspired by Mary Shelley (Frankenstein) and Lord Byron. In fact Polidori’s book Vampyre, which is a romantic vampire novel, was inspired by Lord Byron. Lord Byron wrote a fragmantary story on vampire, and also went on to write the epic poem The Giaour.

For many years the Vampire crazy quieted down, but with Vampire books, movies, and television shows on the rise lately, its no wonder that many authors are finding new adventures for our beloved Vampires.

The Twilight Series, by Stephanie Meyers, have blown up to exceed anyone’s reasonable expectations. With all the hype surrounding the movie, the books have also exploded. Most want to know what happens with the Bella and Edward love story so they continue reading all the books without worrying about the movie. What they find out is, the books are more amazing than the movie. And they can have inside tips when the movies come out.

Twilight has grossed over $70M in revenue since the movie’s debut, it fast became a must have for any Vampire lover. Now with 3 more books to go in the series, there is no telling how high that number will go, but I believe it is safe to say that Twilight (the books and movies) aren’t going anywhere any time soon.

<mce:script type="mce-text/javascript"></mce:script>
<mce:script mce_src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="mce-text/javascript">
</mce:script>

I decided to write a very short (and I do mean very short) excerpt on what the Twilight Books are. I don’t want to go into much detail and spoil your reading, but here is the general background of what is going to happen in each movie.

Main characters:

Bella Swan – high school girl

Edward Cullen – Vampire that goes to school with Bella

Cullen Family – Edward Cullen’s family

Victoria – Part of the Vampire’s clan that tries to kill Bella

Jacob Black – Werewolf and friend of Bella’s father

—-

Twilight

Bella moves to Phoenix to live with her Dad, while her Mother travels around the globe. Bella meets Edward Cullen, a vampire who lives with a family of vampires that have vowed not to drink human blood. Edwards family meets Bella and trusts in her to keep their vampire secret. While out with Edwards family, they run into a clan of human drinking vampires. And a fight breaks out. The Cullen Family must get Bella and her family to safety, all the while having to fight off this other clan of Vampires.

—-

New Moon

The Cullens leave Phoenix to help keep Bella and her family safe. While gone Bella gets to know Jacob Black better, who is a family friend that was introduced in the first book. She learns that Jacob is a werewolf. Jacob and his tribe of werewolves now have to protect Bella because one of the vampires, Victoria, are out to kill her. When Edward learns (mistakenly) that Bella is dead he tries to commit suicide, but gets stopped by Bella who comes to Italy to see him. Edward and Bella meet with a very powerful coven of Vampires and are told that Bella must be turned into a vampire soon.

—-

Eclipse

Victoria creates an army of vampires to try to kill Bella. The Cullen Family and Jacob’s tribe of werewolves must join forces to defeat her. , and get through her defensive line, the Cullen’s Family and Jacob’s tribe. While being protected by both Edward and Jacob, she must choose between the two.

—-

Breaking Dawn

Bella and Edward have gotten married, and Bella is pregnant. Her pregnancy is quite different that normal, and almost kills her in labor. Edward saves her life by making her a vampire. Bella delivers a half vampire / half human girl. They name her Renesmee. A debate breaks out about Renesmee, who is not an immortal child, violating Vampire Law. Bella and Edward win the debate, saying the child is no threat to anyone, and Bella and Edward live happily ever after.

—-

So basically, thats what you are going to read if you have been thinking about picking up these books. They are much more exciting than my short description might make you think – so don’t be fooled, they are definitely worth the read, or in my case, the audio book is worth a listen.
